ABOUT
Founded near the end of 24XX by Takanashi Hiro, Aegis Systems (often shortened to just Aegis) is a computing and engineering company that specialises in military technologies.
Their main contribution to the field are high-spec mecha units, which are designed and built in-house at several factories across Japan — there are 15 Aegis sites scattered throughout Japan, including an outpost that covers almost the entire island of Okinawa.
As well as building the physical frames of the mechs, Aegis also incorporate their own operating system into the internal computers that make them tick; this ensures total compatibility between the systems, the frame and the pilots. Current production models use the YUME release of Aegis OS, but previous releases include HIKARI, KITSUNE and MIDORI.
Aegis also research and build several supplementary products, such as the custom radio units their pilots use for ultra-long-range communications. It includes a built-in flight log recorder, with the ability to interface directly with a mech's OS to pull data straight from the system when necessary.
HEADQUARTERS
The company headquarters rests along the edge of Lake Ashi, Hakone, and serves as their main R&D and testing site.
The hangar bay can hold up to 5 mech units at once, making it one of the smaller buildings in the company's network, but it has a large number of on-site dorms to accommodate pilots transferring between bases (as well as those permanently stationed there). Hakone also features one of the most advanced medical facilities available, making it perfect for emergency procedures; the proximity to the lake means that ejecting pilots will often program their pod's GPS to splash down into the familiar waters when they have to abandon their frames.
